Summary of Bill SRES 86
Bill 119 sres 86 is a resolution introduced in the US Senate that addresses United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758 (XXVI) and the issue of China's "One China Principle" and the United States' "One China Policy". The resolution expresses the Senate's concern about the harmful conflation of these two principles.
The resolution highlights the importance of distinguishing between China's "One China Principle", which asserts that there is only one China and Taiwan is a part of it, and the United States' "One China Policy", which acknowledges Beijing as the government of China but does not take a position on the sovereignty of Taiwan. The resolution emphasizes that the United States should maintain a clear and consistent stance on this issue to avoid confusion and misinterpretation.
Furthermore, the resolution reaffirms the United States' commitment to the Taiwan Relations Act, which provides for unofficial relations between the US and Taiwan, and calls on the US government to continue supporting Taiwan's participation in international organizations where statehood is not a requirement. Overall, Bill 119 sres 86 aims to clarify the distinction between China's "One China Principle" and the United States' "One China Policy" and to emphasize the importance of maintaining a clear and consistent stance on this issue.

Man, this whole China "One China Principle" vs US "One China Policy" thing is just a mess. It's sad how this resolution had to be made to clarify the differences. How will this affect our relationship with China moving forward?
