Lobbying Disclosure Improvement Act
12/2/2025, 8:12 AM
Summary of Bill S 865
Bill 119 s 865, also known as the Lobbying Disclosure Act Amendment, aims to make changes to the Lobbying Disclosure Act of 1995. The main purpose of this bill is to require individuals or organizations who are registered as lobbyists to disclose certain information regarding exemptions they may have under the Foreign Agents Registration Act of 1938.
The Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) requires individuals or organizations who are acting as agents of foreign principals to register with the Department of Justice and disclose their activities and relationships. However, there are certain exemptions under FARA that allow some individuals or organizations to avoid registering.
This bill seeks to increase transparency and accountability by requiring lobbyists who are exempt from registering under FARA to disclose this information. By doing so, it will provide more insight into the relationships and activities of lobbyists who may have ties to foreign entities. Overall, the goal of Bill 119 s 865 is to ensure that the public has access to important information about lobbyists and their connections to foreign entities, ultimately promoting transparency and integrity in the lobbying process.

I think this bill is good cuz it helps make things more transparent. It's important to know who's influencing our politicians.

I heard about this new bill about lobbying, and it seems like it could have some big impacts. I'm sad to think about how this might affect me and others. What do you think will happen in the short term because of it?
